Happy New Year!

1/3/2012 9:45:48 AM
Dear Member;

The end of year holiday season is always filled with food, fun, festivities and the minor stresses accompanied with making all of those things come to fruition. In hindsight, 2011 was a year of great challenge in most aspects of life and living locally and internationally. There was personal and collective loss and, at times, confusion on how to face the reality of these new times.

But a New Year always seems to bring about an atmosphere of excitement and optimism about the days, weeks and months ahead. As human beings we are wired that way – to hope and to feel. The challenge has always been in the doing!

We The People is a creation of these things – a result of the desire for change and a progressive development within our individual self and collective society. A fresh and seemingly naïve approach to our national motto of “Forward, Upward, Onward, Together”. But We have proven that engagement and participation WORKS!

So this year, in this very moment, let’s commit/ re-commit ourselves to the doing! Fulfilling our role and playing our parts. 2012 will be just another year, destined to achieve the same results, without the transformative involvement of YOU!

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
We The People (Bahamas) Ltd.

On July 16th, Mt. Tabor Estates was the first community to “dig it up” with residents planting in masse as a part of the campaign. This was on the heels of plantings at Government House and Doongalik Studios.
Dear All; It’s just a few more days before Emancipation Day and the response has been tremendous! The entire month of July has been filled with ceremonial plantings and promotion of the upcoming Tree Planting & Community Day. To date, WE’ve had many persons and organizations from across the archipelago indicate they’re on board for this coming Monday. From block parties to park clean-ups, it seems WE are ready to do our part to impact the environment and affect change.
A Pomegranate Planted - In Memory of Jackson
Dear All; WE had the wonderful pleasure to plant a pomegranate tree this past Saturday at Doongalik Studios with Pam Burnside and her family in memory of Jackson. As you know Jackson is one of our first members and the actual proposer of the “Tree Planting and Community Day”.
JULY 14 UPDATE - Tree Planting & Community Day August 1, 2011
Dear Member, We had the privilege of planting the first tree – a Lignum Vitae – in the gardens of Government House (see pictures below) this past Saturday with H.E. Sir Arthur Foulkes. With a gentle reminder of his age (a good looking 83), Sir Arthur was full of vigour and “stories” as he threw the first few shovels across the roots of our national tree on Independence Eve.
