There is no doubt we are living in some very unique and challenging times. The 21st Century continues to advance at a rate that requires as much preparation as it does information. Countries around the world have seen their fair share of ups and downs. Economies have collapsed and corporations have crumbled under the pressures of the day.
Minister of Education, Jerome Fitzgerald and Ed Fields, Chairman of We The People (WTP) Bahamas, recently signed off on an agreement to conduct a pilot programme for Six Seconds, an Emotional Intelligence curriculum in ten Ministry of Education schools.

We the People Bahamas and the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Network Hosts a Two-Day Training Session with The Ministry of Education
On August 30 and 31, We the People and the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Network teamed up in Nassau to offer a two day training for approximately fifty teachers and administrators of grades 5, 8, and 11. The two day training, entitled the "EQ Educator Certification" instructs teachers in emotional intelligence (EQ), how to use it in the classroom, and how teach students lessons imbued with social and emotional learning. This intensive and interactive course is designed to enable teachers to deliver the crucial skills of EQ to school children around the world. Six Seconds has taught this course in many countries, and it has proven to be an effective mechanism for delivering EQ skills to those in primary and secondary school. Research has shown that kids who have higher EQ are less likely to engage in risky behaviors, have higher grades, better self esteem, and do better in their future careers.

Update-February 2012
2/14/2012 1:11:00 PM
Dear WTP Members: Some of you may be thinking that its seems that we have fallen off the face of the planet. Not so!!! We have been “working and doing”. Since our last communication we have been progressing well. We have put quite a bit of focus and attention into three of our major projects and are seeing the results of those efforts. As such, this note is intended to both summarize their status and solicit your continued support. They are as follows:
Democracy is an experiment. It doesn't just happen. It isn't a natural state of affairs. Natural states of affairs tend towards hierarchy -- the idea that some people automatically have more power than others. Sometimes those natural states of affairs are nice places in which to live. Some dictators are benevolent and think about the common good. But more often than not, those natural states thrive on exclusion, tyranny, and oppression.
